Children of the Frost Jack London Books
This is a collection of short stories that take place in the Klondike. Most of the stories feature Native Americans. I definitely recommend this book - Jack London has a unique, amazing gift for taking the reader into another person's head, making them see and smell and feel the things he writes about. It's magical.Product details

Children of the Frost Jack London Books Reviews
Excellent free kindle book. My kids love reading books on our Samsung tablet, which is half the battle with young kids.
classic
I think you'll enjoy this.
I've just started reading Jack London (except for "Call of the Wild" which I read in high school English class) and enjoyed this a great deal. The chapters are crammed on top of each other on (I'm guessing during the process of putting them in e-book form) and you can't go to individual chapters except by page to page. These 'chapters' are actually individual short stories. I think I enjoyed each story.. can't think of any I didn't.

Just a note... I read "Adventure" by London afterward and was disappointed. Seemed totally fiction and idealistic. "Children of the Frost" felt more like stories that really could have happened. I felt I had read a bit of Eskimo 'history' from long ago. I'm looking forward to reading more of London's books although I'm going to read "Her Father's Daughter" by Gene Stratton-Porter (new author to me) now for a change. Only just started it but seems like it will be good.
I must say this is not the genre I normally read, but I did enjoy it.
A bit brutal, but great writing.
Just started to reread Jack London. Very enjoyable. This is a collection of short stories about the native Americans in Alaska during the time of the gold rush. Liked all of the stories. Always dismissed London because he was required reading in high school.
I am glad that I finally got around to reading this collection. I should have done it sooner. London's portrayal of the culture and beliefs of the northern tribes is fascinating. Fire owners should get the free movie, Savage Innocents, which echoes many of the themes. I am sure the movie and the book on which the movie is based owe a lot to these tales. No matter what the source, it is hard to beat Quin's performance in the movie.
